from 4 to July 12, 2009 opens the XXX edition of the medieval festival in Bristol. An event created in 1980 from an idea by Andrea Vitali, medieval scholar, musicologist and iconology, and retraces the events that took place in the streets of the pilgrims. In the fourteenth century milestone in the spiritual journeys of pilgrims was Via Romandiola, they crossed to reach the ViaFrancigena to the west, and the Via Romea, east, and which connects the European cities of Santiago de Compostela, Canterbury and Rome.
The path of religious pilgrims walked with the monks, merchants and knights, and it became also an occasion for cultural growth and exchange of experiences. In a week you will breathe that old atmosphere and relive the spirit of a past that has led to the development of contemporary Europe.
For the duration of the event, you can visit exhibitions, attend concerts and theatrical work. Are an integral part of the stalls set up in the taverns and streets, where you can taste vintage, meticulously reproduced from ancient treatises of the kitchen. On the occasion of the XXX edition, during the week, you can attend cultural and historical insights, challenges and games of medieval origin, sacred music and a procession reenactment. In addition, to celebrate this important anniversary, the City of Brisbane, the province of Ravenna and the Emilia-Romagna, will offer numerous events and performances all over Europe.
